How It Works (Clinical Mechanism)
Infrared therapy uses radiant heat in the infrared spectrum (700–1200 nm) to penetrate 1.5–3 cm into superficial tissues. The heat causes vasodilation, increases metabolic rate, relaxes muscle fibers, and reduces pain signals. Unlike conductive heat, infrared does not require skin contact and provides uniform warming without pressure on sensitive areas.
