IFT represents the cutting edge of rehabilitation technology utilized at Dr. Karolin Rockson PT. By integrating IFT into our evidence-based treatment plans, we can significantly accelerate tissue healing, reduce pain pathways, and enhance neuromuscular re-education beyond what traditional therapy alone can achieve.
How It Works (Clinical Mechanism)
IFT uses two medium-frequency alternating currents that cross at the treatment area, producing a low-frequency interference effect deep within the tissue. This beat frequency (typically 1–250 Hz) penetrates up to 5 cm below the skin, stimulating deep muscles, nerves, and blood vessels without the uncomfortable sensation of traditional TENS.
Clinical Indications

Contraindications
- •Pacemakers, implanted defibrillators, or any electronic implant
- •Pregnancy (over abdomen, pelvis, or low back)
- •Active malignancy or undiagnosed lumps
- •Open wounds or broken skin at electrode sites
- •Deep vein thrombosis or thrombophlebitis
- •Areas of impaired sensation
