How It Works (Clinical Mechanism)
Contrast bath therapy alternates immersion in hot water (38–44°C) and cold water (10–18°C) to create a pumping action in the circulatory system. The hot phase causes vasodilation while the cold phase induces vasoconstriction. The rapid alternation creates a milking effect that reduces edema, removes metabolic waste, and accelerates healing in injured extremities.
